Happiness is a Warm Blog

My guests should know that their posts have been some of the most popular, most visited on by blog! Good job, ladies! The truth is that my audience is small (for now) but I write this blog therapeutically and as a way to express my creativity, and to share the things that make me happy and excited and inspired. For example today, in the “Stuff I Like” section under the “Music” section I added one of my all time favorite songs, “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn. Listening to that song makes my heart soar, and sometimes (often) I get a tear in my eye. Please listen to it, I’m sure you’ll love it too.

I am so grateful to Bubbie and Mom for wonderful writing that I can share with you. I would love more guest bloggers. If you feel you are not a writer, just jot down a heartfelt or exciting or frightening memory, When you just write from your gut you’d be surprised how good it can be.

Yesterday I wrote a poem, which I have put in my poetry section. It’s called Complete and it was inspired by my Daily Calm meditation, which talked about relationships, and how people approach them. In the meditation she talks about the book by Shel Silverstein called “The Missing Piece meets the big O” which I had not thought about for a long time. It’s a great book.

From Amazon:

The missing piece sat alone…waiting for someone to come along and take it somewhere. All it wants is to roll along with its perfect match, but some are too small, others too big, and some fit yet don’t roll. The missing piece feels sad and lonely until it meets the Big O, and learns that all it ever needed was a little encouragement and determination to fulfill its dreams.”

So you see, inspiration can come from anything. Something, like the meditation can spark you, then a connection happens in your brain: Jerry Macguire. Neil Gaiman calls it “confluence" and it can take a good idea and expand it into something really special.

I need to work on my own writing more assiduously. Angela, the ghost in my short story Angela RN, is still tickling my mind. I believe in ghosts, and I think the ghosts would like it if I wrote more ghost stories. Maybe it’s because it’s October! (one of my favorite months).

If you want to write a guest blog, you can send it to marythepoet@maryspoetryroom.com

I’d love to hear from you!
