Gird

My thoughts, in the form of poetry and the song above.

Someone posted

“If you win, Don’t Gloat

If you lose, Don’t Despair.”

Well, we won.

I do not feel the need to gloat.

Half of the country voted for the other side

And we cannot ignore that.

We have elected a Uniter

And I hope,

I pray,

That he can help this country heal

From the lacerations of the past four years.

It will take more than hope,

It will take more than prayer,

It will take hard work,

It will take introspection and

Honest self-appraisal.

It will take reaching out

And it will take reaching in.

We mobilize,

We creatures on the side

Of the light and justice.

We love our neighbors,

Even those who hate us.

So difficult, but key

To the healing.

We listen to

The science

We understand this virus

As serious as it is.

We isolate.

We mask,

We stand

Six feet apart.

We work for justice

We love LOVE LOVE!

Our neighbors

Of all cultures and colors.

Of all orientations and identifications

of all creeds and beliefs,

We look into their eyes,

And though we cannot really grasp

Their situation and lives

We try to understand,

Or if we cannot understand we just LOVE,

Just LISTEN and truly hear.

(Listening is so important)

And HELP.

and HONOR.

We hold those accountable…

Accountable.

Peacefully.

We gather together

to praise God in all Her mercy

to protest

to celebrate

and though those kinds of gatherings,

are not safe now,

we use technology

and are together in other ways.

It is an interesting time

to be alive.

We the people have power.

Soon we will have leadership

that listens and cares.

There’s a call to ACTION

to JUSTICE

and to MERCY

The mercy we are given every day

be offered to all

those around us.

Like the song we know

That God uplifts us and

Holds us in the palm of Her hand.

From this position of Security

We reach out our hands

and pull up those who do not feel

Secure and loved.

Here in America

and Abroad.

Joining together

Rather than isolating apart.

Cooperation and Forgiveness

Instead of suspicion and conspiracy.

We take care of ourselves.

We remember that our bodies

are temples.

All bodies

are temples.

and we do not desecrate

or destroy ANY person.

Physically or emotionally,

For each person is a whole

UNIVERSE.

Gird loins! (ha ha ha)

Gird ‘em!

we’ve got work to do.

PEACE to foment

PEOPLE to uplift

ANIMALS to save

a PLANET to protect

a great LOVE to foster

GOODWILL to spread

SELF ESTEEM to raise

a NATION to honor!

a HISTORY to understand

a FUTURE to anticipate with joy.

I wish for you

LOVE

JOY

PEACE

PATIENCE

KINDNESS

GOODNESS

FAITHFULNESS

GENTLENESS

and

SELF-CONTROL.

gird ‘em!
