House Finches and DST

This morning I was sitting down in my living room watching the cats watch the finches, in particular the house finches, that look a lot like house sparrows that have been dipped in cherry jello. These are not native to the area, but have definitely taken over. They delight in the winding up of my cats; I swear they do it on purpose. It’s kind of hard to tell apart house finches from Purple finches, I’ll put a video at the end. A whole flock of these little cuties were zooming around my living room window, hopping about in my firebush this morning. They were doing their best to cheer me up, and I did almost smile I think.

Yep, I’m in one of my grey phases which generally comes around time changes, even if the time change is in our favor like this one when we have more daylight in the evening. The other evening Nathan was reading things he came across online, and he said there’s a bill in the Senate to get rid of the time change, to make it permanently Daylight Savings time. I hope it happens. Purely for selfish reasons; the changes always upset my equilibrium. But who would argue against lighter skies in the Winter? Yes, mornings would be dark, it’s true. I don’t really understand this stuff. I just know what feels good for me. Here’s an interesting article that puts out the Pros and Cons: The Pros and Cons of Daylight Saving Time (timeanddate.com) Me, I prefer Daylight Savings. I like lighter evenings (once my body adjusts). How about you? I think everyone can agree that that time changes are bad. The question becomes: what is healthier? I personally, am not sure.
