“Good Job, Guys”
I took this cool picture at Sunflower Hill Farm in New Glarus Wisconsin, owned by Brian and Jodi Bubenzer (Nathan’s brother and his lovely wife). Jodi was taking me tooling around in the Gator and I saw these branches against the sky. “Stop right here,” I said, and I took this shot, just one shot. It’s one of the first photos I have taken with my new Galaxy S21 Ultra +5G phone. I like it: the vibrancy of the colors, the shape of the branches against the sky, I think it almost looks like a surrealist painting.
Well, Nathan and I have been working our patoots off today, getting the house ready for an inspection on the first of next month (we’re refinancing to take advantage of great rates right now). I had a brainwave and called 1-800-Got-Junk, and they’re coming next Saturday with a big truck to pick up a ton of stuff. They advertise that “You point at it, they haul it away.” We’re not hoarders, mind you, but we do have an accumulation of detritus that has been weighing us down for way too long. It is going to feel like… well, like a brand new start. We’re taking full advantage. They said it was a big truck; it better be. A sleeper sofa, about four TVs, a piano, about six bicycles, and four large bookcases, for starters. My goodness, I already feel lighter! We were emptying the bookcases, and already took one load of nine banker’s boxes of books to Half Price Books to sell. They gave us all of $36… not much, but believe me, I’d pay to have them taken off our hands. We have much more to do before next weekend arrives, including a few more trips to Half Price, and Nathan will have much to do after Got Junk absconds with the goods, but I am feeling much better after our very hard day of work. I need a shower. LOL
Next Friday I have my second Botox treatment for my migraines. This is why I won’t be able to help Nathan after Friday. The first one didn’t work great but I was warned this could happen. I heard after the second and especially after the third I might have miraculous effects. This is marvelous, but after the treatment, I’ll have to spend the next few days out of commission (unable to bend, lift, strain myself) for cleaning, etc, which is why we worked like demons today.
I have four days this week to really do my part. Nathan and I have it all planned out. I know Nathan’s going to have to do Yeoman’s work by himself next weekend, so I will give my utmost Monday through Thursday. We’ll be so happy when it’s all over and done, and we can enjoy a “lighter” life.
For now, I feel tired, sore, and glowing with a sense of accomplishment.
As they say on our new favorite TV show to binge, “Maine Cabin Masters,”
“Good Job, Guys!”
