Not Counting Chickens
Well, here we are, America. It is exactly as I expected. I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch but it’s looking good for my side. I feel conflicted. I am glad that we seem to be on top BUT I am sad that so much of this nation voted the other way. I was hoping for more of a repudiation of the Trump hate machine. Was also hoping to win the Senate. It will end up being like Obama’s second term, I fear, with the Senate blocking all good progress. Well, as my Mother wisely told me, it’s not us. All we can do is to live our love path, try to work with those who disagree with us, though they don’t much seem like they want to work with us. Be personally proud and work on the side of Light and Good. I like that Joe Biden keeps talking about how he will be an American President, working hard for those that voted for him, and also for those who voted against him. I feel like I have had 4 years of not being represented, of being cast as the enemy.
Time to move on. Let the Democracy work, let the votes be counted.
Ok. Time to Mobilize myself! Energize! and my favorite, Activate! The last two days I’ve been pretty much stuck to the TV and my phone. Time to do some yoga. Time to take a walk. The weather in Wisconsin is unseasonably lovely. I’ll take a walk and maybe get a rotisserie chicken for our dinner. That sounds good, doesn’t it!
It’s one of the most hygge seasons! Soon it will be winter. I am looking forward to doing a lot of writing, and looking out at the snow falling, and not having to have a slippery hike to work. Can’t tell you how glad I am of that. AND! yes, I have been listening to Christmas music already (therapy, remember?) and I found a great channel on Sirius XM, “Acoustic Christmas.” I also have been listening to the Mary Chapin Carpenter Christmas album, “Come Darkness, Come Light.” it’s one of my favorites. (I put a song from it on my last blog post). Nathan is so happy about the Christmas music (NOT). But he puts up with it ‘cause the man is in love.
Much love to my readers. I appreciate you so much. I would write my blog even if I didn’t have readers, but it’s nice to know that I’m reaching out to others, especially now in our six feet apart world. Here’s a virtual hug to you. Steady! We will get through all of this. Election, virus, unrest… we are Americans, and Americans are scrappy folks. We’re survivors. Hold on…
How appropriate is this song? Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men. (And women, Mr. Longfellow.)
