Nathan is Top Nurse

This is my guy, and I couldn’t be prouder!

Nathan deserves this honor. He works his rear end off, and this job is perfect for him. Nathan is a humble guy; he tells me doesn’t understand why they chose him. I wish I could infuse him with confidence to understand just how valued he is, by me and by everyone who interacts with him.

Nathan throws himself entirely into whatever job he has, he gives 120% all the time. And he has been valued and honored at anything he puts his hand to. His level head has saved me, quite literally, on many occasions. He so deserves this honor. He also deserves a promotion and a raise, though I have nothing to say about that!

Nathan is so good with people. He is a great listener and loves to get input from others. He works many more hours of the day than he is credited for, often working evenings and weekends. He has been working 2 days a week from home, and I love that, I love to take him coffee and sandwiches. I pamper him a bit. I see my job as caring for that precious man. I try to keep home as stressless and calm and relaxing as I can, as he works hard to do his part in this coronavirus crisis.

He is the right man to have in charge. He will push and push and push. Right now he is working on getting the vaccine to his people. UW Hospital has it, and so does St. Mary’s, but the state has not given it to Unitypoint-Meriter yet, and has not given Nathan a time when he can expect it so it’s one big guessing game, which is not fair to the employees who need the vaccine ASAP. Nathan reassures them and continues in the holding pattern, maintaining the plans that are on hold until they get the vaccine. Once the vaccine is available he will help coordinate the process.

Nathan will help his Community at Unitypoint-Meriter Hospital and all the clinics get through this emergency. Honestly he was born to do this job. All of his life experience, work experience, education and the gifts God gave him; his innate kindness and compassion, level head, humor and vision equip him to be so good at this job. I am so grateful to Unitypoint-Meriter for seeing these gifts and valuing them, giving him this great opportunity to employ all these advantages given to him. They are so lucky that Nathan decided to get his certified nursing assistant job all those years ago; which got him into the ICU, where he decided that nursing was his thing and he got his BSN at Edgewood which netted him his nursing gig on ICU; and then moved to infection prevention, when he decided to get his MPH, and snagged the Emergency Preparedness job. Honestly, it’s the American Dream story. Start at the bottom and work hard to achieve success.

Like I said, I’m proud of my guy.
